Tumwater is home to some of Thurston County's most well known attractions. The Olympia Brewery of the Deschutes River is here, as are the Tumwater Falls, a series of terraced falls best viewed while walking through the Tumwater Historical Park.

Tumwater lays claim with Steilacoom, to being the oldest settlement north of the Columbia River. The town was incorporated in 1845, and has retained a strong sense of history since.

The Tumwater Historical Society is very active in chronicling the region's past. Nowhere is there a better place to experience. Tumwater's history that at the Tumwater Historical Park, where you can experience the falls of the Deschutes River cascading through the park.

A small town directly abutting Olympia, Tumwater maintains a small town atmosphere. The residents regard themselves as neighbors, Friday night high school football games are always a big event, and community events in general are always well supported.
